Wallingford Bunkfest 2011

The Bunkfest celebrated its' 10th Anniversary this year and it's still free - long may it remain so!

As in previous years I only managed to see some of the acts so here are my highlights, starting with 9 Ton Peanut Smugglers.
Great brass (and I don't mean the lights)

It's not every night you see a bald guy playing a guitar like this...

Friday night's headliners were Transglobal Underground,

An excellent night!

On Sunday, we were treated to The London Philharmonic Skiffle Orchestra

- a band with more costume changes than you can shake a chicken at..

But the last word must go to...

Transglobal Underground
Roll on next year...

Wallingford Blues and Beer Festival 2011

I decided to tryout my new 550D with 35mm f2 at 3200 ISO which resulted in apertures of F5.6 to 6.3 at decent hand held shutter speeds. Enough of the technobable, here are the results....

The first band up were Jukes Blues. Like most supports they hard to suffer with uneven lighting (the lead singer is second from left)...
 Then, the Aynsley Lister Band.
Is it just me or is the main man a young Hugh Grant lookalike? Suffice to say that young Mr.Lister plays his Fender in a completely different world...
When you don't have to worry about the cost of film or the hassle of changing over after a measly 36 frames, it's so easy to keep shooting...
 Is this Purple Rain?
 Hold on a sec...
Don't forget the drummer..
  Thanks
 Or keyboards...
 Or Midus on Bass..
 In fact the whole band..

After an encore and a short interlude..
The Norman Beaker Band came on stage:
What was that about middle aged rock musicians?
They were joined by a certain Mr. Dave Berry...
If I was still doing that when I'm seventy I'd be pleased and surprised!

And I mustn't forget the drummer..
All in all a great night
So was 3200ISO a working speed as you can't tell at this size?
A most emphatic YES!
And the last word? not to the camera but..
Thank you Mr.Lister Sir:
